Stage Center will bring the magic of Arendelle to the stage this summer with its production of Disney’s “Frozen: The Broadway Musical,” opening July 16 at Marjorie Lyons Playhouse on the Centenary College campus.
The production is the fifth show of Stage Center’s 15th anniversary season and is presented in association with the organization’s School of Performing Arts. The musical will run for one week, with performances scheduled July 16-19.
Based on Disney’s hit animated film, “Frozen” follows sisters Anna and Elsa in the kingdom of Arendelle. After Elsa’s hidden magical powers are revealed following her coronation as queen, she retreats into the mountains, plunging the kingdom into an endless winter. Anna embarks on a journey to bring her sister home, joined by ice harvester Kristoff, his reindeer Sven and the snowman Olaf.
The production stars Aubrey Buckner as Elsa and Mia Kiihnl as Anna. Other featured performers include Eric Mason Kirton as Kristoff, Charlie Roppolo as Hans and Harrison Starrett as Olaf. The cast also includes 36 local performers from across the region.
Among the featured cast members are Ryan Bamburg and Ruby Waits as Young Anna, Nate Bokenfohr as the Duke of Weselton, Shalem Carr as Pabbie, Karoline Duffy as Sven, Trey Jackson as Oaken, Hannah Wallace as Bulda, Benjamin Williamson as King Agnarr and Anna Maria Sparke as Queen Iduna.
Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday, July 16 and 17. On Saturday, July 18, audiences can choose between a 2 p.m. matinee and a 7 p.m. evening performance. The final performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, July 19.
Tickets go on sale June 29. Admission is $30 for adults, $25 for seniors and military members, and $20 for students.
The production is suitable for all ages.
