After decades as a staple in Northwest Louisiana, 318 Forum magazine has published its final edition, marking the end of an era for readers searching for Shreveport news, local stories and community voices.
The publication, long known for its positive focus and deep community ties, concluded its run after 37 years.
Publisher Jay Covington reflected on the milestone with gratitude.
“It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to share the voices and inspiration of the people of our community,” Covington said. “We have always sought to inspire, uplift and focus on the positive. We’ve enjoyed a sterling reputation that we are very proud of, and are more than grateful for our many friends, advertisers, contributors and talented staff. It’s time for a break.”
318 Forum’s Legacy
Founded in 1988, 318 Forum grew into a dominant publication in the region, at one point holding the largest print circulation in North Louisiana, according to Covington. Over the years, it became a trusted source for Shreveport community news, features and human-interest stories, while also supporting local initiatives.
The magazine earned numerous honors and contributed to projects across the city and state, while raising funds and awareness for area organizations.
“There are so many people to thank for our success, going back 37 years. We know many wonderful people. It would take an entire printed edition to thank them all,” Covington said.
Three18 Insider Launches
As longtime readers search for a 318 Forum replacement and wonder where to turn for similar local content, a new platform is stepping in to help fill that gap.
Three18 Insider has launched with a focus on general interest coverage, highlighting the people, businesses and stories shaping the Shreveport-Bossier community. The platform aims to continue the kind of positive, community-driven storytelling that defined 318 Forum, while offering a modern, digital-first approach.
Shreveport-Bossier’s newest premier media platform will also continue many community traditions, including the Young Professionals Initiative 40 Under Forty cover reveal, featuring unique cover artwork; a special May issue featuring the Greater Shreveport Chamber Minority Business Opportunity Awards; and coverage of the Better Business Bureau Torch Awards.
Three18 Insider is not affiliated with 318 Forum, Jay Covington or its affiliates.
Jay Covington’s Career
Covington’s career in publishing began early, working in the graphics department at UpState Newsweekly at age 19, where he quickly advanced to become the youngest production manager in the United States. That foundation eventually led to the creation of Forum Magazine, which would become a recognizable name across Shreveport-Bossier. The magazine was later renamed 318 Forum.
Now, with the final issue complete, Covington said the transition will take some getting used to.
“I’ll take some time to decompress and then find something meaningful to do,” he said.
Despite the closing, he emphasized that the moment feels less like a loss and more like a milestone.
“It feels like a celebration, not an ending. What a wonderful ride,” Covington said. “I couldn’t be more proud of our legacy and of all those who contributed and whose stories we told. Please remember us fondly.”
While 318 Forum’s print run has come to a close, its influence remains, as a new chapter begins for local storytelling in Shreveport-Bossier.
