What I’ve found over the last few years of visiting unique and upscale restaurants is that what truly makes a dining experience memorable isn’t just the food; it’s just as much about the ambiance and the service.
While the restaurant I’m recommending serves food that is nothing short of incredible, what left the biggest impression on me was how the staff, sommeliers and servers made us feel from the moment we walked through the door.
At Superior’s Steakhouse in Shreveport, we didn’t just have a meal; we enjoyed a five-star-worthy fine dining experience.
Along the way, we were treated to tidbits of knowledge about the culinary arts and stories about the craftsmanship behind the restaurant’s success.
From the wine selection to the preparation of Bananas Foster, every detail showed a passion for excellence.
We began our evening with cocktails and one of the most delicious appetizers I’ve ever had: chargrilled oysters. I paired them with a blueberry lemon drop martini, while my father enjoyed a Wyoming Single Barrel Bourbon Old Fashioned.
Ever since that night, I’ve ordered blueberry lemon drops at many other restaurants hoping to recreate the experience, but none have matched the delicate sweetness of the one served at Superior’s.

For our entrées, we were presented with some of the most flavorful and visually stunning dishes I’ve ever seen.
For the first time in my 11 years living in Louisiana, I experienced the celebrated Louisiana redfish. This one in particular was blackened, pan-seared and served over rich crab meat risotto. I paired it with au gratin potatoes, which may have permanently changed the way I eat potatoes.
My father, a man of fine taste, ordered the filet mignon topped with Gulf shrimp alongside a side of macaroni and cheese.
As impressive as the main courses were, we were in for an even sweeter surprise with our dessert course.
Our sommelier prepared Bananas Foster tableside while sharing the history of the dish and how he learned to make it in New Orleans.
After my first bite, I wondered how I had gone my whole life without experiencing it.
Even with a full stomach, it’s hard to leave Superior’s Steakhouse. Between the live music, the crackling fireplace and the rich history shared by the staff, it’s the kind of place where you could easily spend hours unwinding with a cocktail and great conversation.
Superior’s isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience, one that you can’t miss when you visit Shreveport-Bossier.
Superior’s Steakhouse is located at 855 Pierremont Road.
