In a heartfelt message to the community it has served for the past seven years, ShrevePride announced it will be taking a pause in 2026.
Describing the hiatus as a “lunar break in celebration of the Lunar New Year,” organizers shared that after years of volunteering to build, organize, and celebrate the local LGBTQIA+ community, the team needs time to rest and recharge. As a result, longtime favorites Field Gay and Q-Prom will not take place in 2026.
The decision, they emphasized, was not made lightly. After months of reflection, organizers concluded that sustaining their work requires intentional care for themselves and one another. Their connection to the community, affectionately referred to as their Q-ties, remains strong. But as circumstances evolve, they recognized the importance of stepping back in order to continue forward in a healthier, more sustainable way.
“Rest is not retreat,” the group shared, making clear that the pause does not signal an end. Throughout 2026, ShrevePride plans to continue supporting the community while focusing on personal growth and transition behind the scenes. They also expressed encouragement for anyone creating opportunities that uplift the LGBTQIA+ community and pledged to cheer on those efforts.
The organization is already looking ahead to 2027, when it intends to return with renewed energy, clarity, and purpose.
