If you’re building a business or career in Northwest Louisiana, the Greater Shreveport Chamber is working to open doors for you.
Representing nearly 1,100 companies and more than 75,000 jobs, the Chamber plays a central role in creating opportunities for businesses to grow, compete and succeed across the region. While many know the Chamber for its networking events and signature programs, its impact goes far beyond that.
From advocating for critical infrastructure to developing the next generation of leaders, the Chamber serves as a powerful voice for business at the local, state and federal levels. By connecting people, championing priorities and creating opportunities, the Chamber is helping shape what’s next for Shreveport-Bossier.
Here’s what’s happening at the Chamber
Advocacy in Action: GSC to D.C. Fly-In
For more than 45 years, the Chamber has taken Northwest Louisiana’s voice directly to Washington, D.C. This year was no exception.
Through the annual GSC to D.C. Fly-In, regional leaders met with Louisiana’s congressional delegation to advance priorities critical to long-term growth. Key discussions included major infrastructure investments such as the I-49 Inner City Connector, along with continued support for Barksdale Air Force Base, the Port of Caddo-Bossier and key transportation corridors.
These efforts go beyond policy. They help create jobs, attract investment and ensure local businesses can compete on a national stage.
Building the Future Workforce: Summer Works 2026
The future workforce is being built right now, and local businesses have a chance to be part of it.
In partnership with the city of Shreveport and Caddo Parish Public Schools, the Chamber has launched the Summer Works 2026 Youth Internship Program. This initiative connects high school students with paid, real-world experience while helping them build essential workplace skills such as communication, collaboration and professionalism.
Students will complete more than 100 hours of hands-on experience aligned with high-demand career pathways, strengthening the talent pipeline across the region.
For employers, it’s an opportunity to help shape future talent while building a pipeline of future employees.
Local businesses are encouraged to get involved by hosting a student intern this summer. Learn more and sign up at https://summerworks.caddoworks.us/
Election Education Initiative
Although the Greater Shreveport Chamber does not take positions on candidates for office, it believes an educated electorate is vital to selecting leaders. To provide the public with direct access to candidates, the Chamber invites those in contested races for state, local and federal office to participate in recorded interviews on topics important to Chamber members and the community.
These interviews are posted online for public viewing. The Chamber also works with local TV stations to host candidate forums and plans to do so again. The election education initiative will begin once qualifying for office is complete later this spring.
