Lilah’s Bakery is welcoming back a familiar face as Lila Roussel, daughter of owner Lisa Tike, returns to Shreveport and joins the family business as director of operations and community relations.

Roussel grew up around the bakery and was featured on the business’ billboards as a 4-year-old. After graduating from Caddo Magnet High School in 2022, she attended Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, where she began building her career and met her husband, Andrew.

After a year in Ruston and a period back home gaining local work experience, Roussel and Andrew spent a year and a half in Baton Rouge, where she worked in banking. Following their wedding in May 2026, the couple returned to Shreveport.

In her new role, Roussel will combine her professional experience with her connection to the community as she helps guide the family business. She will oversee corporate orders, fundraising and community initiatives, along with day-to-day operational duties.

“Lila has always been the heart of Lilah’s Bakery, and it has been such a joy to watch her grow into this role,” said Lisa Tike. “She brings a beautiful vision, creative spirit, and professional experience we need to help our family business flourish, and I am so proud to see her cultivate lasting roots within our Shreveport-Bossier community for years to come.”

“I’m thrilled to join the family business and can’t wait to see how we build on our legacy and grow together into the future,” said Roussel.

Lilah’s Bakery was founded in 2006 by Tike and a business partner and was named after Roussel. Tike wanted to celebrate Louisiana culture through food and helped develop the bakery’s king cake recipe, which remains in use today.

The bakery sold approximately 70 king cakes during its first year selling them in 2008. By the 2022 Carnival season, Lilah’s Bakery had sold an estimated 22,800 king cakes.

The bakery’s growth has led to a seasonal team of approximately 25 people during Mardi Gras, many of whom return season after season. Lilah’s Bakery has also expanded its king cake offerings to include holiday-themed cakes for Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
