One of the greatest parts of living in Shreveport-Bossier is getting to experience local restaurants that have built a loyal following over the years.
Recently, I had my first opportunity to visit Kim’s Cook-house on South Lakeshore Drive.
I had heard many great things about it on social media and had even driven past the restaurant a few times while showing homes in the area.
One day, I decided to show up with my camera and see what all the hype was about.
Upon entering, I was greeted by dim lighting, friendly smiles and great music. I didn’t have a clue what type of food was served at Kim’s Cook-house, so I did what anyone else might do when it was my turn to order.
I chose the first item I saw on the menu: the Crab and Shrimp Box.
I was then asked what type of sauce I would like. I thought to myself, “That’s strange. I get to pick the sauce on a seafood boil?”
I asked for the server’s recommendation, and she suggested the Cajun sauce and the Bussin Sauce. That sounded good to me, so I paid for my meal and took a seat on the waiting bench.
Ten minutes later, my food was ready.
After receiving my seafood platter to go, I could already tell why Kim’s Cook-house had gained such a strong reputation.
The food was hot, smelled amazing and looked even better. It was clear that everything had been prepared with a special touch.
Every bite was filled with flavor I never thought possible from seafood. The flavors were fresh and unique, and there was more than enough sauce. My mind was truly blown.
Never in my life had I tried a dish with so many different flavors coming together in a single meal. Every bite tasted like it had been prepared with care and attention to detail. The combination of quality ingredients and home-style cooking made for an excellent meal that exceeded my expectations.
As crazy as it might sound, what stood out to me most during my visit was not just the food. It was the friendliness of the staff, the atmosphere and the sense of community inside the restaurant.
The welcoming environment made Kim’s Cook-house feel more like a neighborhood gathering place than a restaurant.
Kim’s Cook-house left a lasting impression on me, and I’m sure it has done the same for many others.
