Amid rising safety concerns across the community, United Way of Northwest Louisiana and Project Celebration, Inc. have joined forces to provide survivors of domestic violence with added protection and peace of mind. The partnership focuses on equipping individuals and families with practical tools to help them feel safer as they rebuild their lives.
Through funding from United Way of Northwest Louisiana, Ring doorbell cameras will be purchased and distributed to survivors served by Project Celebration. These devices offer real-time monitoring and increased awareness of activity around the home, creating an added layer of security for those working toward stability and independence.
The initiative is part of United Way’s Disaster Response Fund, which remains open to address both immediate and evolving needs in the community. In addition to safety efforts, the fund supports mental health services, 211 resources, and other coordinated assistance programs designed to strengthen community resilience.
“Safety is a critical need for survivors of domestic violence, particularly as individuals work to rebuild their lives,” said Mitzi Harris. She noted that the partnership allows the organization to provide meaningful, practical support that directly impacts survivors’ sense of security at home.
United Way is approaching the effort with a coordinated, survivor-centered strategy, working through trusted local partners to ensure resources are delivered responsibly and effectively. LaToria W. Thomas emphasized the importance of collaboration in meeting urgent needs, explaining that the initiative not only enhances safety for survivors but also reinforces the broader support network surrounding them.
Project Celebration, Inc. serves survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking throughout the region, offering shelter, advocacy, counseling, and comprehensive services aimed at long-term healing and stability. Through this new collaboration, both organizations are working to ensure that survivors have not only the support they need but also the security to move forward with confidence.
